Software is an integral part of the amateur satellite experience, and provides services from predicting satellite pass, steering antennas and tuning radios. Some software is available from AMSAT, other software is available from the vendor site. In either case we have done our best to make sure the following links point to the most recent version. Download the KK7DS Python runtime for Mac OSX. OS X support is limited to Intel architecture. PowerPC is not supported. Chirp.app is unsigned. With default security settings, you will need a special procedure to run it: Application Security in 10.9. 2. Ubertooth One SDR
The Ubertooth One is an open source 2.4 GHz wireless development platform suitable for Bluetooth experimentation. One thing that sets the Ubertooth apart from other Bluetooth development platforms is that it’s capable of not only sending and receiving 2.4 GHz signals, but can also operate in monitor mode, monitoring Bluetooth traffic in real-time. This operating mode of the Ubertooth One has been present in low-cost WiFi modules for years and has found myriad uses in research, development and security auditing but no such solution existed for the Bluetooth standard until now. YARD Stick One comes with RfCat firmware installed, courtesy of atlas. RfCat allows you to control the wireless transceiver from an interactive Python shell or your own program running on your computer. JS8Call is software using the JS8 Digital Mode providing weak signal keyboard to keyboard messaging to Amateur Radio Operators.
JS8Call is an experiment to test the feasibility of a digital mode with the robustness of FT8, combined with a messaging and network protocol layer for weak signal communication on HF, using a keyboard messaging style interface. It is not designed for any specific purpose other than connecting amateur radio operators who are operating under weak signal conditions. JS8Call is a derivative of the WSJT-X application, restructured and redesigned for message passing using a custom FT8 modulation called JS8. It is not supported by nor endorsed by the WSJT-X development group. While the WSJT-X group maintains copyright over the original work and code, JS8Call is a derivative work licensed under and in accordance with the terms of the GPLv3 license. The source code modifications are public and can be found in js8call branch of this repository: https://bitbucket.org/widefido/js8call/
JS8Call is and will always be open-source and free software (free as in beer and free as in speech, do with it what you like, for sum of exactly $0).
You might be asking…why is this named JS8Call? Why was it renamed from FT8Call? Why not something else, like BACON or HF Messenger? Good question! It is named this way as an homage to its heritage:
